| Thallus microphylline-squamulose, of small, stellately incised, subimbricate squamules, 0.1–1 mm long and 0.1–0.5 mm wide, in diffract crust over a thin, blue-black, cobwebby prothallus, in irregular patches, 3–5 cm wide. Upper surface matt, usually glaucous, dark brownish, with isidia-like flattened structures which are grey-blue, delicate and friable. Cyanobiont Nostoc,in clusters. Apothecia not seen in Australian material. CHEMISTRY: P+ yellow-orange. Vicanicin, ±norvicanicin and occasionally terpenoids. | ||
| A species of dense shade in humid, lowland, warm-temperate forests, often associated with or overgrowing mosses of tree trunks and old stumps. Only collected once in N.S.W. Otherwise known from N.Z., mostly in North Is. habitats. | ||
